Leon McKenzie has scored four times for Coventry City this season
Coventry City forward Leon McKenzie is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon.
McKenzie, 30, was stretchered off in the second half of Saturday's 1-0 home win over Birmingham City.
"He's devastated. We're disappointed for him. He worked so hard to get back last year after a thigh injury.
"But we'll look after him and get him back," Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
"He's unlucky as his Achilles has gone.
"He had another one this year on his opposite leg, he got back from that and now he's played Saturday and it's just one of those things."
Coventry splashed out 1m on McKenzie in August 2006 to secure his signature from Norwich City.
McKenzie, 30, who is out of contract in the summer, has netted 14 times in 67 games for the Sky Blues. And, despite several injuries, he managed to clock up his 100th career goal earlier this season.
