Coventry suffer on and off field

Coventry RFC

A depleted Coventry lost 14-10 at Newbury in National League One on Saturday, despite outscoring the Berkshire side two tries to one.

Ben Toft's unconverted try was Cov's only first-half score as a Tom Kessell try and two Ben Stevenson penalties earned an 11-5 half-time lead.

And, although Lawrie McGlone reduced the arrears, another Stevenson penalty earned Newbury's first win in 13 games.

Meanwhile, Cov's Darren Clayton has been cited for an alleged incident.

Clayton will appear before an RFU disciplinary panel on 16 March 16, charged with having made contact with an opponent's eye in the 29-24 home win against Sedgley Park on 20 February.

The flanker is charged with "an act contrary to good sportsmanship".
