Hurren signed for Stags this summer after two years at Kidderminster
Mansfield Town midfielder Gavin Hurren says he is happy to be flexible to become a regular in the Stags' side.
Hurren is primarily a central midfielder but was used in defence last weekend when Adie Moses was taken off with an injury.
"The boss knows I can play at the back as well," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"Obviously, I had to drop into centre-half, which isn't a problem. It's for the team and as long as we get the three points I'm not too fussed."
The former Nottingham Forest trainee is keen to establish himself in manager Billy McEwan's starting line-up and admits the start of the season has been frustrating at times.
"I haven't played the first part of the season," he said. "The lads have been doing well and getting good results, so I just thought I had to keep fit, keep training well and just wait for my chance."
Hurren made only his second start last weekend against Salisbury and was thrilled to have the opportunity to show his potential.
"Obviously, the boss felt it was time to put me in and I've really enjoyed it," he added.
"I thought I'd just run around and see what happens, but it was really nice to get on the pitch and hopefully now we can kick on from here."
