Championship side Ipswich Town have signed former Manchester City, Tottenham and Wales defender Ben Thatcher on a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old is a free agent after leaving Charlton at the end of last season and was on trial with Ipswich during a pre-season tour in Belfast.
Thatcher was also on trial at West Ham but was booed by fans during the 1-1 draw with Villarreal last weekend.
He is due to be in the Ipswich squad for their trip to Burnley on Saturday.
He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Hopefully I've got five years left in me.
"So if I'm going to get back into the Premier League I need to choose the right club that's going to get me there and I'm hoping this could be the one."
