Mildenhall were subject to interest from businessman Allen Trump |
Speedway's Mildenhall Fen Tigers expect to complete a takeover deal soon, with current promoter Simon Barton staying on as part of the management team. King's Lynn promoters Keith and Jonathan Chapman are due to take over the day-to-day running of the club. But team manager Lawrence Rogers is set to leave with a Mildenhall press release stating former rider Richard Knight will be taking on the role. The club hope to sign two riders in time for Sunday's meeting with Reading. Mildenhall have struggled in Speedway's Premier League this season, losing every fixture so far with just six left to race. But, once the takeover goes through, the signings of former track record holder Paul Lee and Henning Loof should be secured to bolster the roster before the current campaign ends. Richard Knight, who was a part of the Mildenhall team that won the league back in 1979, will also be racing in addition to his management role. The new promoters are promising Conference League Speedway at the very least at West Row next season and there may even be a chance of racing in a second Premier League, should the current one be split at the sport's winter AGM.
