A group of Hull City fans are calling on the local authority to make Tigers legend Dean Windass a Freeman of Hull.

Supporters group Tigers Co-operative has called on its members to lobby the Hull City Council to bestow the honour on their 39-year-old striker.

Windass, who is now on loan at Oldham Athletic, scored the goal which took Hull City into the top-flight for the first time in their history.

They make their call in the latest newsletter to their members.

In it the committee recommend that its members lobby members of Hull City Council ahead of a meeting in March.

The co-operative hope that Windass will follow rugby league legend Johnny Whiteley in receiving recognition.

Hull's most famous living Freeman is human rights activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
