Nardiello was dismissed in only his second Pools appearance
Hartlepool United caretaker boss Chris Turner has defended striker Daniel Nardiello following his sending off in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield.
The 26-year-old was dismissed for a foul on Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies but Turner, a former stopper himself, felt the referee's call was harsh.
"There was no malice but the way the game is now you can't challenge the keeper," he told BBC Tees.
"He's seen the ball 50-50, gone for it and got a red card for it."
Meanwhile Turner was impressed by his side's display in coming back from a goal down at Huddersfield.
Pools conceded early on but showed character and resolve to come away from the Galpharm Stadium with a precious point.
"We knew before we came here Huddersfield would be a massive test for us, obviously I didn't want it to go the the way it went but we got a very good point out of the game," he said.
"The way we've got that point has been through sheer guts and determination."
The draw leaves Pools 13th in League One, level with Southend on 34 points from 28 games.
