Clark left to rue missed chances

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark was left to rue a number of missed chances after Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Hartlepool.

A Michael Nelson gave Town the lead at the Galpharm Stadium before Ritchie Jones equalised for the visitors.

Clark told BBC Radio Leeds: "The disappointment is there because we created some unbelievable chances.

"You're disappointed when you create chances like that. We shot ourselves in the foot because we feel it's two points dropped."

Clark admitted that Huddersfield's failure to convert their chances highlighted their lack of strength in depth up front.

"It's plain to see because I couldn't even put a striker on the bench," said Clark.

"It's alright talking about lacking firepower and I've tried to rectify that but the boys I signed yesterday weren't eligible for tonight.

"I thought Keigan Parker had one of his best games for me but Keigan isn't a natural goal-scorer, he's probably a second striker.

"Hopefully both of the new boys that I've signed will prove to be that elusive natural finisher that I'm looking for," he added.

Clark could now consider making changes for Saturday's game at Bristol Rovers with new signing Jonathan Tehoue likely to come into the reckoning.

The Town manager is also hoping to tie up the signing of Everton striker Lukas Jutkiewicz, however the paperwork is yet to be completed and approved by the Football League.

"I think it's got to come into my plans," Clark said.

"When you create chances like we are and do not end up with the goals that we should have it becomes more and more frustrating.

"I think if I'd had a natural goalscorer from the first day I walked in here we'd be sitting in a top six position.

"We're the only team in the top ten to have a minus goal difference and that's not because we're shipping lots of goals, it's because we're not scoring enough at the other end," he added.
