Huddersfield have signed French striker Jonathan Tehoue until the summer, subject to international clearance.
Tehoue, 24, most recently played for Konyaspor in the Turkish top flight, where he scored nine goals in 38 games.
He told the club website: "My trial has gone well and I think the manager was pleased with what I showed. Today I have signed and I am happy to be here.
"The gaffer has told me that he needed another striker - a player who can score goals. I hope I can be that man."
Tehoue began his career in his native France before playing spells in Cyprus and Belgium.
Every signing you make is a bit of a risk, I just feel that we needed something different in that area of the field
Huddersfield boss Lee Clark
"I like to play around the area and I have a strong shot, but it is not for me to say what I am good at - maybe the gaffer will tell you," he said.
"The team has been playing very good football while I have been here. The stadium is great too and I think I have joined a really good club."
Manager Lee Clark said: "He is gradually getting fitter all the time.
"He is a strong player - a bit different to what we already had here in terms of his physical presence.
"He is competitive, has a good touch as well and a good change of pace and when he gets the chance to shoot he hits the target on a regular basis with quite a powerful shot.
"Every signing you make is a bit of a risk. With Jonathan, you hope that what you have seen of him in training and at his previous clubs can continue.
"I just feel that we needed something different in that area of the field and that initial short-term deal suits us down to the ground really."
Tehoue was Clark's second signing on transfer deadline day after the capture of Gateshead striker Lee Novak.
He was also trying to bring a young Premier League player into the club but it it not yet known if the paperwork on that deal was completed in time.
Meanwhile academy defender Shane Killock has been released by Town so he can make his loan stay at Oxford a permanent one.
