Hartlepool United have signed Blackpool striker Daniel Nardiello on loan until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United trainee, 26, has three Welsh caps and manager Chris Turner is delighted at bringing in a striker of his calibre.

"Daniel is just the kind of player we're trying to bring in," he told the club's official website.

"He's an experienced striker who can play on the shoulder of the defender and link play very well."

Nardiello has also played for Barnsley and Queens Park Rangers and has made 133 league appearances in total for the club, scoring 29 goals.

Meanwhile, Pools caretaker manager Chris Turner has denied reports that the club has expressed an interest in former striker Adam Boyd at Leyton Orient.

The Pools-born striker enjoyed seven seasons at Victoria Park before moving to Luton Town for 500,000 in July 2006.

But the Pools director of sport is adamant no approach has been made thus far.

"We've put no bid in for Adam Boyd and I've must have enquired for 50-odd players in different positions to try to strengthen the squad," he said.

"Adam would love to come back to Hartlepool and maybe in the future there might be an opportunity but we haven't made any concrete offers.

"However we do need to strengthen the squad."
