Gateshead goalkeeper Tim Deasy has signed a contract extension with the Blue Square Bet Premier club until the end of the season.

Deasy, 25, who left divisional rivals Barrow at the end of last season, was offered a short-term deal at Gateshead by boss Ian Bogie during the summer.

"My first aim was to play well and secure a contract until at least the end of the season," Deasy said.

"I have fitted in well and it is a very professional set up at Gateshead."

Deasy added: "Training full-time and having an excellent goalkeeping coach has made me sharper and improved my game.

"I am happy with my form and am confident that I will continue to progress over the next few months."
