Goalkeeper Tim Deasy hopes for success at Gateshead
Deasy was a key player for Barrow last season
Gateshead goalkeeper Tim Deasy is hopeful that his three-month stay at the International Stadium can be beneficial for both himself and club.
Deasy, 24, joined up with Gateshead after quitting Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Barrow at the end of last season and is keen to impress on Tyneside.
"The aim is to play as well as I can, and help the team do as well as I can," he told BBC Newcastle.
"If I'm doing well I'm sure the gaffer will offer me a longer deal."
Having guided Barrow to safety in the Blue Square Bet Premier last season, as well as playing a part in the club's FA Trophy run, Deasy believes he can enjoy similar success with his new club, particuarly given their move to being a full-time set-up.
"Gateshead have taken a step forward whereas most teams have taken a step back," Deasy added.
"They've gone to a full-time status, they've signed some fantastic players, as I've seen in games and in training.
"They should be looking to mid-table, maybe a place in the play-offs."
Deasy is likely to figure in Gateshead's season opener at home to Kettering Town on Saturday, with fellow keeper Paul Farman out with a knee injury.
