Darlington defender Clayton Fortune believes the gamble of dropping down a division to League Two could be the springboard his career needs.
Fortune, 25, who joined the Quakers from League One side Leyton Orient, sees his new club as genuine contenders for promotion in 2008-09.
"All the boys are pulling in the same direction so let's hope we can achieve promotion," he told BBC Tees.
"I came up had a look around and there was only one place that I was going."
Despite having played at a higher level with Bristol City, Port Vale and Leyton Orient, the Forest Gate-born centre-half is happy just to be involved in regular first-team football.
"When I spoke to the manager he said this is a chance to reinvent myself, as I missed the whole of last season with a dislocated shoulder," Fortune said.
"I will play anywhere along the back four, I'll play in midfield, up front, wherever the manager wants me to, really."
