Middlesbrough have decided against offering a contract to New Zealand defender Tony Lochhead.

The 26-year-old spent a week's trial on Teesside but boss Gareth Southgate will not be signing the left-back.

Lochhead, who plays for Wellington Phoenix, has been capped 16 times by New Zealand, having made his international debut in October 2003.

He also has experience in the United States with New England Revolution and Orange County Blue Star.
