Middlesbrough have handed a week's trial to Wellington Phoenix defender Tony Lochhead.

The 26-year-old has been capped 16 times by New Zealand, and made his international debut against Iran in the Asia/Oceania Challenge in October 2003.

Lochhead has experience in the American MLS league with New England Revolution and Orange County Blue Star.

Boro are in action at Carlisle United on Tuesday, 29 July with the match kicking off at 1930 BST.
