British long jumper Chris Tomlinson has been passed fit to compete at the Olympics after recovering from a torn calf muscle.

The 26-year-old world indoor silver medallist suffered the injury at the Crystal Palace Grand Prix on 26 July.

But after a period of recovery and rehabilitation he passed a test at the Olympic Medical Institute in London.

He will arrive in Beijing on Tuesday, four days before the qualifying rounds of the long jump take place.

When the injury was diagnosed, Tomlinson said he would do everything he could to make sure he was able to compete.

"It's every athlete's dream to compete at the Olympics and if I've got even 1% chance of getting there I'll sacrifice the next few weeks to do that," he said.
