Crewe Alexandra have signed defenders Danny Blanchett and Adam Dugdale on free transfers.

Left-back Blanchett, 22, has agreed a one-year contract after being released by Peterborough this summer.

Former Alex academy centre-half Dugdale, also 22, returns on a six-month deal after leaving AFC Telford.

The pair have featured in three friendly matches for Crewe this summer, including the 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

Dugdale told BBC Radio Stoke: "I am thrilled to be given the chance and I aim to repay the faith [boss] Dario Gradi has shown in me.

"I have worked really hard throughout the summer to improve my fitness and now it's my aim to get into his starting side.

"Playing non-league opened my eyes and I know it has made me a tougher person, but there is nothing like being in full-time football and it's great to be back."
