Former Peterborough United defender Danny Blanchett is one of two players currently on trial at Crewe Alexandra.
Crewe manager Dario Gradi has invited both Blanchett and Manchester City centre-back Matthew Brown, 20, to train with the League Two club.
Blanchett, 22, joined Posh from Cambridge City in 2007 but made just three league starts at London Road before being released in June.
He had loan spells with Hereford United and AFC Wimbledon last season.
Blanchett also spent time on trial with Port Vale in the summer of 2009 but was not offered a permanent contract by manager Micky Adams.
Brown played regularly for Manchester City's reserve side last season but has not featured at first-team level.
