Lewis and Hamilton both reached the last eight of the UK Open in June

Adrian Lewis and Andy Hamilton both lost in the first round of the World Matchplay in Blackpool on Sunday.

Hamilton came from 8-5 down against Co Stompe but was eventually beaten 12-10 by the experienced Dutchman.

Lewis lost 11-9 to Mark Webster, who reached the semi-finals of the World Championship in January.

Defending champion Phil Taylor, who is hoping to win the title for an 11th time, plays his first-round match against Barrie Bates on Tuesday.

Former world champion Raymond van Barneveld began the tournament in style on Saturday by hitting a perfect nine-dart finish in his 10-1 victory over Denis Ovens.
