Andy Hamilton reaping benefits from move to Derby

World number seven Andy Hamilton says his game has improved significantly since he relocated from Stoke-on-Trent to Derby.

The 43-year-old has made the move to be closer to regular practice partner Colin Osborne.

"I've only got family holding me in Stoke so it made sense," Hamilton told BBC Radio Stoke. "I moved to where Colin is and it's paid dividends.

"Since I moved there in February my game has come on leaps and bounds.

Last weekend Hamilton reached the quarter-finals of the UK Open for the first time before going down to a 10-6 defeat by eventual runner-up Gary Anderson.

"It's a new challenge and it's worked out, because sometimes you can get a bit stale," Hamilton added.

"Colin and I push each other all the time and we're such good friends, we're like brothers in a way."
