Chris Stokes played twice during a loan spell with Crewe in March
Crewe Alexandra have offered a trial to teenage left-back Chris Stokes, after the 19-year-old was released by Bolton Wanderers at the end of the season.
"He fits the bill because we want a taller left-back," manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke. "We want to increase the size of our team."
Stokes played twice during a loan spell with the Alex in March.
Gradi is searching for a left-sided defender after allowing former captain Billy Jones to leave the club.
Academy graduate Matt Tootle, primarily a right-back, spent much of last season playing at left-back while Jones was injured.
John Brayford and James Bailey have also left the Alex to join Derby County, while midfielders Lee Bell and Antoni Sarcevic remain the only additions to the squad.
