Bolton left-back Chris Stokes will stay on loan at Crewe until 11 April

League Two side Crewe Alexandra have signed young Bolton Wanderers left-back Chris Stokes on loan for a month.

Stokes, 19, has been brought in as cover for the injured Matt Tootle and the suspended Carl Martin.

Stokes has been a regular for the reserve and youth teams at the Reebok Stadium, but is yet to make a first-team appearance for Owen Coyle's side.

The former England youth international will travel with the squad for the game against Torquay United on Saturday.

Crewe manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "He's a boy we've been considering for a month or so, but we couldn't bring him in because we couldn't give him a game.

"But we've now got an opportunity to give him a game and see what he's like.

"There might be a chance to sign him long-term, but that would depend upon whether we want him and whether they were willing to let him go."
