Youngsters Ashley Westwood, Luke Murphy and Byron Moore are being tipped by the Crewe assistant manager Steve Davis to be pushing for first-team starts.
Davis told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a big season for those lads, they have to push on and produce what we want."
Westwood and Murphy both made their senior debuts last season, while Moore made 22 starts for the Railwaymen.
Crewe have made two permanent signings this summer, while a number of trialists have now been released.
Mat Mitchel-King and Patrick Ada have joined the club on free transfers from non-league Histon, and goalkeeper David Button has come on a six-month loan arrangement from Spurs.
The Alex allowed eleven players to leave the club after they suffered relegation to League Two last season, and manager Gudjon Thordarson has yet to spend any money on replacements.
