Kitson vows to prove Stoke worth

Stoke City's record signing Dave Kitson says he feels like he has just signed for the club again after suffering from personal problems last season.

The 29-year-old striker made just 10 starts last term after joining the Potters from Reading for £5.5m.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm looking sharper in training and mingling better. It was probably my fault I wasn't more approachable last season."

Kitson spent the end of the campaign on loan at his former club.

He reveals his personal problems are easing after affecting his game last season.

"I had some pretty big life-altering problems that went on last year," Kitson said.

"You cannot do your business well when those sort of things are going on, but most of that has been resolved now.

"My objective is to get into the team sooner rather than later, and hold on to that place.

"I am not going anywhere, as and when I'm needed, I'll be ready."

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has backed his record signing to find his form once more, and start scoring the goals that would help to keep the Potters in the top-flight for another season.

"You just hope Dave puts it all together. I still think he's a very good player, he just had a bad time because he never scored goals," Pulis said.
