Elding looking to impress manager

Crewe striker Anthony Elding is hopeful that a good performance in the club's final game of the season will keep him in manager Gudjon Thordarson's plans.

The Alex need to win against champions Leicester at home, and hope other results go in their favour, to avoid relegation to League Two.

Elding told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm playing here because I want to play football for Crewe Alexandra.

"When I get chances, I must take them. We all want the best for the club."

Elding, 26, made his first Alex appearance since returning from a loan spell with League Two side Lincoln City in the 4-3 defeat at Stockport last Friday.

The former Leeds striker added: "The manager has said that every week it's an open team sheet.

"I feel that since I've been back at Crewe I've trained really hard and I got my chance against Stockport. I think I did alright while I was on loan at Lincoln as well.

"Hopefully we can give the fans something to shout about on Saturday. It's been a disappointing season on the whole, and I feel I've got a lot more to give."

Elding has scored three goals for the Alex this season, all of which came in the opening month of the campaign.
