Elding has scored three goals since joining Crewe from Leeds
Crewe assistant manager Neil Baker said he expects better from forward Anthony Elding after his reaction to being substituted in the win over Colchester.
Elding refused to sit on the bench after being taken off in the 67th minute and watched the remainder of the game from the stands.
Baker told BBC Radio Stoke: "He showed that he cares but he needs to show it better than he did on Saturday.
"We want players who are committed and who don't enjoy being brought off."
Top Pope replaced the former Leeds United man and put in a performance that impressed Baker when he scored within two minutes of coming off the bench to seal a 2-0 victory.
"It will be difficult to leave him out. He's done really well and has certainly improved," he said.
"Popey can be what Popey wants to be. He's not blessed with great pace but his determination and general play has been good."
