Elding was in demand despite failing to shine at Leeds

Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of Leeds United striker Anthony Elding for an undisclosed six-figure fee, BBC Radio Stoke reports.

The 26-year-old has performed a U-turn after rejecting a move to United's League One rivals earlier this summer.

The former Stevenage striker had wanted to fight for a first-team place but decided to leave Leeds when he was left out of their tour of Ireland.

Elding only joined Leeds from Stockport in January and scored just one goal.

He is Crewe's third major summer signing after Calvin Zola joined from Tranmere for £200,000 and Joel Grant moved from Aldershot for £130,000.

Meanwhile, Alex have released trialist Jake Buxton.
