Port Vale caretaker manager Dean Glover is hoping to exploit the loan market to strengthen the squad at Vale Park.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "There isn't any money to play with, so we may have to call in a few favours.
"We might have to ask a few of my friends in football to help out on the wage side in order to get players in."
Glover and Andy Porter were appointed after Lee Sinnott's departure and chairman Bill Bratt says he will find a replacement from within the club.
That leaves Glover in prime position to be be given the manager's job full-time and he says the loan market will be the ideal way to bolster the side.
"The big clubs want to give their young players the opportunity to play football," said Glover.
"The only way they can get experience is to come to a club like ours and so we're hoping that could help us out."
