Ruddy aims to bow out on a high

Goalkeeper John Ruddy has said he intends to end his loan spell with Crewe Alexandra on a winning note.

The Everton man plays his final game at Alexandra on Friday night against former club Stockport County.

The 22-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke: "I just want the three points for Crewe which would give them a great chance of staying up."

A first win in nine would take the Alex out of the bottom four in League One until their rivals play on Saturday.

Ruddy has made 18 starts since he arrived from Everton at the end of January, keeping six clean sheets.

Steve Collis, who lost his place to Ruddy, is expected to deputise for the final game of the season at home to champions Leicester City on Saturday, 2 May.

He added: "I think if you don't get nervous before a game, it shows you don't care.

"I always get nervous before games but once the whistle blows you have to get it out of your head."
