Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy is looking to impress at Gresty Road after joining Crewe Alexandra on loan.

The 22-year-old joined the League One side on a one-month deal on Thursday.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've seen some of the recent results and it seems like they've been scoring goals but also conceding at the same time.

"I hope to bring some stability to help stop the rot. The plan is for the others to score the goals while I keep them out."

Ruddy began his career as a trainee at Cambridge United before joining Everton in a 250,000 deal in 2005.

He has since had loans spells with Walsall, Rushden & Diamonds, Chester City, Wrexham, Stockport County and Bristol City but has only made one appearance for the Toffees.

"The opportunity to play some games is what I've been looking for," said Ruddy. "There's some big games coming up and hopefully I can help out."
