Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham is hoping to be back for the first day of pre-season training after an operation on his back.
He slipped a disc against Blackburn after 15 minutes on 18 April but played on until the end of the game.
The ex-Manchester United trainee, 30, told BBC Radio Stoke: "The operation went well, I'm in a lot less pain.
"I'm hoping to be back before pre-season to do some running, and then be fit for the first game of the season."
