Crewe Alexandra have released Ransford Addo after deciding not to offer a contract to the trialist.

The Royal Antwerp defender had been training with the Alex on the recommendation of Manchester United reserve team manager Warren Joyce.

First-team coach Steve Holland has been looking to strengthen his defence for most of the summer.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "We have been tracking two defenders from League Two but don't think they are the answer."
