Baker has seen Crewe lose their opening two games in League One
Crewe assistant manager Neil Baker believes there were positives to take from the Alex's 4-2 defeat at Carlisle on Saturday.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "We deserved something. We didn't defend as well as we'd like but our attacking was good.
"If Joel Grant takes his chance at 2-1 down, I think we go on and win."
Meanwhile, Crewe have signed left-back Scott McManus, 19, on a two-year deal and agreed a fee with Stockport for the sale of keeper Owain Fn Williams.
Fn Williams moved to Stockport in the summer after rejecting a new contract at Crewe, but as he is under the age of 23, Crewe were entitled to a compensation payment.
First-team coach Steve Holland told the club website: "We have agreed an undisclosed fee and I think it is probably the best we could have expected.
"We have avoided having to go through the tribunal process, which is the most pleasing thing."
Defender McManus joins having been with Manchester United as a youngster and recently had a trial at Nottingham Forest.
