Donaldson failed to become a regular in his season with Hibs in the SPL
Crewe Alexandra are increasing their striking options by signing Hibernian's Clayton Donaldson for an undisclosed six-figure fee.
The League One outfit say the 24-year-old will sign a three-year contract as soon as the Scottish FA gives international clearance.
Donaldson watched the Alex's 4-2 defeat away to Carlisle on Saturday.
He is the third addition to Crewe's forward line after Anthony Elding and Calvin Zola signed in the close season.
Donaldson, who scored five goals in 18 appearances in his season with the Scottish Premier League outfit, would become Crewe's seventh signing of the summer in total.
We want to bring in our own players and not rely on other people's
Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland
And Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "We are delighted to have more or less completed the transfer and he will be different to the other new strikers we have signed."
"With the strikers we have been able to bring in and with Tom Pope and Shaun Miller still here, I do think we are better off for forwards than we were last season.
"I know some supporters will wonder how can that be when we have just sold Nicky Maynard for 2.25m, but we didn't have Nicky for half the season anyway. That is why we had to bring in a host of loan signings and we wanted to avoid that this season.
"We wanted to bring in our own players and not rely on other people's."
