Cambridge striker Daryl Clare eyeing 'weaker' Luton

Cambridge United striker Daryl Clare believes his side should be confident of beating Luton Town on Saturday.

The Hatters, who are on a four-game run without a win, have lost striker Tom Craddock and talisman Kevin Nicholls in the last two weeks.

Clare, 32, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Let's not forget Luton have lost two of their best players, two massive players for them.

"They may be a little weaker than usual and we may be able to exploit that."

The former Gateshead man scored against his old club in Saturday's 5-0 win at the Abbey Stadium to open his account for Martin Ling's men, who have now enjoyed back-to-back victories ahead of the trip to Kenilworth Road.

"It's a tasty game, the ones we all look forward to are the big games, there'll be 7,000 there I'd have thought," Clare continued.

"But we've just picked up six points in five days, so it's good form and we'll go there full of confidence."

Clare made only his second start of the season against Gateshead after struggling through pre-season with a glute injury.

The front man has formed a partnership with fellow new-boy Danny Wright and is enjoying the combination.

"We're gelling nicely, we've still only had to weeks together in training," he added.

"He's the ideal partner for me, he's big and strong and holds things up and touches things on."
