Cambridge United winger Courtney Pitt believes the U's will make it second time lucky against Torquay in the Blue Square Premier play-off final.
The 27-year-old was one of a number of players who underperformed in last season's Wembley defeat by Exeter.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Last season, the most disappointing thing was that we didn't perform on the day.
"But this year we're confident we'll use the experience from last time to get it right."
Following last year's play-off final defeat, Pitt was released by then-boss Jimmy Quinn but returned to the club following the appointment of Gary Brabin.
The former Oxford man then suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season which kept him out of the side until Christmas.
"I was disappointed with what happened with Jimmy Quinn and then I got injured in pre-season which was a big blow," he said.
"It took a while to get fit again, but I've helped the team to progress and will be aiming to do my bit on Sunday."
Pitt has played 22 times in the league and play-offs for the U's this season.
