Pitt was released at the end of last season only to return in July.
Cambridge United winger Courtney Pitt says he hopes to be fit again by mid-November as he recovers from surgery on an injured knee.
The 26-year-old was hurt in a pre-season friendly against West Ham.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I will step up my rehab next week and will try to bend my knee again.
"I've got to do leg weights next and then it's about getting my fitness back, but right now I'm hoping to be back mid-November."
Pitt says he has found his injury particularly frustrating as he was pleased with the way he was playing under new manager Gary Brabin.
"I thought I was playing well in pre-season," he said. "I thought I had more licence to play and I was playing further forward, which is what I want to do.
"[Brabin] wants us to go and express ourselves and play with a smile on our face, and you only do that when you're playing where you want to be and winning games."
