Colchester's Pat Baldwin rejects Bristol Rovers offer

Colchester defender Pat Baldwin has turned down an offer to join Bristol Rovers permanently and will remain with the Essex outfit.

The two clubs had agreed a transfer fee for the 27-year-old who had been on loan at the Memorial Stadium from November to January.

"We had agreed a package with the player too," manager Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol.

"But at the last minute he decided to stay and fight for a place."

Trollope continued: "That's the situation at the moment, things do change. We would have liked Pat in the building but he's decided otherwise.

"He liked his time here but there were a number of personal factors why he chose against it in the end.

"We're not writing it off completely but at the moment it's dead."

Baldwin played six times for Rovers in his loan spell at the club but came on as a second-half substitute in Colchester's 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Norwich on Saturday.
