Somerset head coach Andy Hurry says his team have to step up and start winning trophies this season.
The Taunton-based county were runners-up in the Twenty20 Cup, third in the County Championship Divison One and second in the Pro 40 in 2009.
"We haven't won one for four or five years and it's time we made our mark and started winning some silverware," Hurry told BBC Points West.
"We've been knocking on the door but not getting over the final hurdle."
He added:" It's something we've been addressing this winter and focusing on and delivering next season.
"Yes we've been competitive but now it's about winning competitions, winning trophies."
He has an immense amount of ability and a lot to prove to the world stage as well so he'll be really hungry to do well
Andy Hurry on Kieron Pollard
Somerset have made some high-profile signings recently to boost their Twenty20 campaign.
Australian all-rounder Cameron White is returning to the County Ground to join Indian spinner Murali Kartik and West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard.
Pollard came to the attention of Hurry during the Champions League Twenty20 competition in India, where he was playing for Trinidad & Tobago.
"Kieron didn't score too many runs against us but in the final he hit to all parts of the ground," said Hurry.
"I think he's really going to enjoy playing at Taunton and on the away grounds.
"He has an immense amount of ability and a lot to prove to the world stage as well so he'll be really hungry to do well."
Somerset have a potentially explosive batting line-up with the likes of White and Pollard joining forces with Marcus Trescothick and England Lions players Peter Trego and Craig Kieswetter.
"I'm pumped about the whole Twenty20 competition, it's going to be really exciting for our members," added Hurry.
"The boys are really looking forward to playing in all forms of the game but from a spectacle point of view we've got a very exciting side."
