Pollard joins Cameron White and Murali Kartik in Somerset's T20 squad |
Somerset have signed West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard for their 2010 Twenty20 campaign. The 22-year-old hit an explosive 54 in 18 balls for Trinidad & Tobago in the T20 Champions League in India where Somerset were playing. "Kieron showed himself to be the sort of player who can change a game in a very short period of time," said director of cricket Brian Rose. "He played consistently well and produced some amazing shots." Pollard has played in 15 one-day internationals and made Twenty20 appearances for the West Indies since making his debut in 2007. He joins Australia all-rounder Cameron White and Indian spinner Murali Kartik at Somerset as three of the four overseas players allowed for the domestic Twenty20 competition. Rose added: "With Kieron in the side along with the likes of Cameron, Marcus Trescothick, Craig Kieswetter and Peter Trego, we had better order a bigger supply of cricket balls."
