Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Steve Phillips has been placed on the transfer list at his own request.
Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope said: "He came back from Turkey and that deal didn't go through.
"That situation escalated into Stevie asking if he was free to go if someone came in for him and we agreed to that."
The 31-year-old was the first-choice keeper last season and has made 165 appearances since joining Rovers back in 2006.
"He knows they way we work and we'll show him respect and treat him like he's true competition while he's in the football club, added Trollope.
"Frazer (Forster) is playing well at the minute and has got the shirt so he keeps the shirt.
"But we know that Steve is a capable keeper and if he's needed over the next few weeks he'll be ready to go in."
