| Wednesday, 12 February, 2003, 16:55 GMT Bantams' Cadamarteri talks Bradford have defended their stance against playing striker Danny Cadamarteri. The forward has been left on the sidelines due to a clause in his contract that guarantees him a pay rise when he reaches 30 appearances. But Bradford said they are continuing talks with the former Everton forward's agent about deferring the bonus. "Danny wants to play, we want him involved but we have to make sure we don't gamble," the club's managing director Shaun Harvey told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus. "With our recent history of our administration everybody looks on this as financial crisis. We like to refer to it as financial management. "This situation is not unusual. Football is littered with stories of players not being selected due to appearance-related clauses. "Simon Grayson came on loan here last year knowing full well he would never play for Blackburn again. If he did it would have triggered a payment to Aston Villa." |
