| Tuesday, 21 May, 2002, 08:22 GMT 09:22 UK Carbone hits back Carbone: Reportedly earns 40,000 a week Bradford striker Benito Carbone has denied accusations that he is responsible for the club's financial crisis. The Bantams were placed into administration last week and chairman Geoffrey Richmond admitted that one of his major mistakes had been signing Carbone. The Italian reportedly earns wages of 40,000 a week. But his solicitor Chris Farnell said in a statement: "My client would like it to be known that he is both concerned and upset regarding the current situation at Bradford City, a club which he joined on a free transfer and under a freely negotiated contract.
"The only information he received was that his services would no longer be required." Richmond admitted that he made a mistake in signing Carbone, Stan Collymore and Dan Petrescu on big wages at the start of the 2000/ 2001 season. "I will never, ever forgive myself for spending the money we did," he said. "Looking back now, it was six weeks of madness and I hold my hands up." | See also: 20 May 02 | Bradford City 17 May 02 | Bradford City Top Bradford City stories now: Links to more Bradford City stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
