Blackpool sign Southern
Blackpool boss Steve McMahon has completed a busy week in the transfer market with the capture of Everton midfielder Keith Southern.

Southern had just completed a three-month loan spell at Bloomfield Road and has now made a permanent switch for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Second Division club and follows the loan signing of Sunderland midfielder Sean Thornton.

"He is a great acquisition for the club. Keith has all the attributes of a good player.

"We have stolen him, in this day and age," McMahon told the club's website.

The Seasiders had also made an approach for former Birmingham and Sheffield United defender David Holdsworth but he joined Conference outfit Scarborough.
