Defender Paul Edwards completes Barrow return

Blue Square Bet Premier side Barrow have re-signed full-back Paul Edwards.

The 30-year-old left the FA Trophy holders in the summer to have a trial with Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Having failed to secure a contract with the Scottish club, bosses Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan moved to secure Edwards' return to Holker Street.

He made 15 appearances for Barrow last season after joining in March following his release by Port Vale.

Edward's arrival is a timely boost for the Bluebirds who lie bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier with no points from their opening two games.

Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria: "Everyone knows all about Paul and we're delighted to have him back,

"We've gone on record saying we weren't happy with the start and some of the performances,

"We don't make idle threats about changing the side and there will be more changes than that against Rushden & Diamonds this weekend."
