Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss says he is hoping to sign a new deal with the club and extend his contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season.

Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria that both he and co-manager Darren Sheridan have yet to hold contract talks.

"We did speak to the club a number of months ago but nothing has been said since then," he said.

"Maybe it has been a busy schedule. I'm sure the chairman will speak to us in his own time."

Bayliss and Sheridan have made a big impact at Holker Street since taking over from Phil Wilson in November 2007.

The Bluebirds were third from bottom of Blue Square North when the pair took charge. The pair then guided the club to promotion via the play-offs on the back of a 20-game unbeaten run.

The Bluebirds have reached the third round of the FA Cup in the last two seasons and are now looking forward to a Wembley appearance in the FA Trophy Final against Stevenage Borough in May.

Bayliss said: "We did get an offer to renew our contracts five-and-a-half months ago but we have not been back in touch about them."

"Our contracts are up at the end of the season like the rest of the players as well so we are in the same boat as them.

"Hopefully, the chairman will call us soon and say: 'well done, there's a bit of a reward for you'."

The former Rochdale, Luton and Wrexham defender has stated he is keen to extend his stay at Holker Street.

"We're loving it at Barrow and in our eyes we are doing a good job." he said. "We are taking the club forward and don't want to leave."

"I'm sure we won't leave. The chairman has just been busy with the amount of games and the cup runs and he will call us in his own time." he added.
