Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss will keep his job despite his part in Saturday's melee after the 2-0 defeat at Kettering.

The board have invited Bayliss to an internal disciplinary meeting where they will discuss their own means of handling a punishment.

"It is in the best interests of Barrow AFC that Dave remains part of the management team," read a statement.

The Football Association have confirmed that they are also investigating.

The incident in the aftermath of the game was sparked by a challenge on Bluebirds striker Gregg Blundell by Kettering full-back James Jennings, which culminated in Blundell suffering head injuries and requiring a stretcher to leave the field.

Bayliss, having witnessed the incident, then confronted Jennings at the final whistle, upon which players and coaching staff joined the melee with the resulting fracas causing a steward to suffer minor injuries.

Following the incident Bayliss apologised for his actions, while Blundell was released from hospital later on Saturday evening with concussion. Jennings received a yellow card for the challenge on the Barrow forward.

Bayliss enjoyed a playing career which took in spells with clubs such as Luton, Rochdale and Wrexham before joining Barrow in November 2006, where he has been joint-boss along with midfielder Darren Sheridan since November 2007.

During that time Bayliss and Sheridan have taken Barrow to promotion to the Blue Square Premier, as well as two consecutive FA Cup third round placings.
