Glentoran and Linfield will replay their Nationwide Irish Cup sixth round tie on Tuesday night (1945 GMT) after drawing 1-1 at the Oval. Linfield had looked in trouble when going a man down and then a goal down in the early stages.
Paul McAreavey's third minute dismissal for headbutting was quickly followed by Mark Glendinning's headed opener for Glentoran on seven minutes.
However, Peter Thompson snapped up the Linfield equaliser in the 23rd minute.
It was Thompson's 22nd goal of a superb first full season in senior football, but his first in the Irish Cup.
Linfield may be satisfied to get a replay after that start.
McAreavey may be the most relieved of all after his red card but he will not be able to play in the second meeting because he must serve an automatic one-match suspension.
The Linfield player was guilty of a moment of madness when he butted Glens midfielder Tommy McCallion after just three minutes.
Glentoran went ahead through Glendinning's looping header but Thompson was quickest to a low Stephen Douglas cross to level midway through the first half.
