Darren Kelly congratulates six-goal hero Gary Hamilton |
Gary Hamilton scored six goals as Portadown hammered Omagh Town 9-0 to go to the top of the Irish Premier League. The Ports completely outplayed the County Tyrone side from the start and got their other goals through Peter McCann (2) and Darren Kelly.
Hamilton scored the opener after two minutes and added another on 21 with Kelly making it three before the break.
McCann scored twice in the second half with NI striker Hamilton bagging four in between.
It was a disastrous afternoon for Omagh who have just one point from their first five games in the league.
But for Hamilton it was a day to remember.
"That is the most I have ever scored in a game and I doubt it will happen again," said the six-goal hero.
"It was a great team performance, everybody was brilliant. When we score we look a different team, we are better on the ball and teams are forced to come at us more.
"We have a lot of talented players in the team and it showed today. But there is a long way to go in the season and it is who is on top of the table at the end of the season that matters."
