Angelos Charisteas played in all Greece's Euro 2004 qualifying matches. The rangy striker became Werder Bremen's record signing in 2002 when they snapped him up from Aris Salonika for �2.3m.
Charisteas moved to Germany on the advice of national coach Otto Rehhagel who used to manage Bremen.
His impact at international level was swift, scoring three goals in his first two games for Greece which sealed his place in the side.
He has since scored regularly and notched both goals as Greece beat Northern Ireland on the road to Portugal.
Noted for his pace and versatility, he is happy operating as a lone forward.
